Do you know that it is possible to recover the files that you have permanently removed from your computer? Stunned? This is possible because when you delete a file, Windows just removes the reference of the file from the file system table and you see the disk’s free space has increased. But actually the deleted file’s contents are still present on the disk and therefore it might be possible to recover it.
My go-to software for recovering deleted files is Puran File Recovery. The 64-bit Portable version is just 1.5MB in size and has a simple interface. Just select the disk you want to scan for deleted files and click the scan button. It will show you all the deleted files that are still intact in the disk. Select the files you want to recover and click on the recover button.
Now, you might be wondering how to permanently delete a file so that it can never be recovered this way. To do that, you will need to use another type of software called a File Shredder. A file shredder not only removes the reference of the file from the file system table but also replaces that file’s contents in the disk with random values so that it can’t be recovered. A recommended file shredder is Eraser. It is also quite simple to use.
